Completion of 1st Phase for Kanghot Irrigation Development Project in Battambang Province of the Kingdom of Cambodia Undertaken by our company

On 4th June of 2013, Kanghot Irrigation Development Project in Battambang Province of the Kingdom of Cambodia undertaken by our company has been inspected and accepted officially by Cambodian Irrigation Ministry, which is a mark of successful accomplishment for the first irrigation project ever cooperated between China and Combodia.

Battambang Province in Kingdom of Combodia is about 280 km to the north west of Pnom-penh, and the project area is located in the south of Battambang City and is around 30 km to the urban area. The main contents for the project construction are to build river barrage and water diversion dam with water sluice gate for the water level rising up, and to channel the water to the project area for natural flow irrigation over the majority of the farmland and for better drainage conditions. The main buildings include river barrage and water diversion dam、water irrigation and drainage channels and channel auxiliary buildings, etc. The project commenced on 26th November of 2010, and all the 3 unit engineering works has been inspected and accepted on 4th June of 2013, the actual construction period is 30 month plus 10 days, which is 9 months and 20 days ahead of the original contract term of 40 months. This project has gained universal acceptance and appraise by the Cambodian Irrigation Ministry and the Construction Consultancy Company. The political leaders of Cambodia and the Chinese Ambassador in Cambodia have visited the site so many times for inspection and instruction.

Battambang Province is the granary of Cambodia, and agricultural development is one of the “4 angle strategies” set by Cambodian Government. After the project is completed, the irrigation area for the farmland will reach to 34.3 thousand hectares, the water resources utilization rate will be efficiently raised, the local agricultural irrigation conditions be improved sufficiently, the crop yield be increased significantly, the peasant income will rise up, and the local ambient environment will be innovated as well, realizing the sustainable development for the local agriculture and the rural area.
