Guangdong Foreign Construction Co., Ltd. Holds the Completion and Opening Ceremony for Stage 1 & Ground Breaking Ceremony for Stage 2 of Polytechnic Institute of Enga Project

          The Polytechnic Institute of Enga Project, Stage 1 in Papua New Guinea has been officially handed over in late April, 2022, for which a grand completion and opening ceremony for stage 1 & ground breaking ceremony for stage 2 was held at the construction site on May 11. PNG Prime Minister James Marape, together with Enga Governor Peter Ipata, Minister of Higher Education Wesley Raminai, Minister of Fisheries Dr. Lino Jeremaih Tom, Enga Administrator Dr. Amean, former Vice Prime Minister Don Polye, Ministry of Higher Education Secretary Dr. Francis Drake and other important members of PNG government have attended the ceremony. Lu Xiaoshe, Deputy General Manager of Guangdong Foreign Construction Co., Ltd (GDFC) & General Manager of GDFC (PNG) LTD, and Zhang Kunlin, Deputy General Manager of GDFC (PNG) LTD, were also presented at the ceremony. 

 

The Polytechnic Institute of Enga Project, with the Stage 1 including 2 buildings of 6 in 1 3bedroom staff residence – 12 accommodation units as its starting work, is a brand new polytechnic institute in PNG. The project, with a total investment of about 250 million Kina, will cover an area of 23 hectares and the building area of approximately 35000m2. EPC pattern proposed, it will have multiple financial sources such as PNG government fund, aid fund from China, revenue of the Porgera Gold Mine, etc. With construction period of about 4-5 years, the project will be comprised of 76 buildings for administration, teaching, library, students’ residence, staff residence, professional training centers and some ancillary facilities. 

 

The wrapped up ceremony have aroused great positive response throughout Enga Province and even the whole country. Giving full affirmation to our efficient progress and high construction quality, all sectors are confident and expectant for GDFC to undertake the Polytechnic Institute of Enga Project as well as other major engineering projects in PNG.
