Project Site: in the mid-stream of West River Section in Liu Zhou City

Engineering Nature and Scope: Primarily for electricity generation and navigation, also for overall utilization of irrigation, tourism and breeding. The dam is 886 m long and 61 m high. The normal water storage level of Xijiang Hydropower station is 77.5m, the corresponding reservoir capacity is 570 million cubic meters, the total installed capacity is 220 thousand kilowatts, and the annual generating capacity is around 800 million kilowatt-hrs.

Engineering Contents: main buildings are a 1,000 ton navigation lock on the left bank, 18 hole river-bed water release sluice with net width of 16m, power station plant on the right bank, earth dams along both banks and water retaining dam. The total investment is 1.76 billion RMB.

Commencing Date and Completion Date: start on 20th, October in 2003, trial water storage on 4th ,November in 2004, the whole engineering was completed in April of 2005, and formally put into operation in October of 2005.
